MONROEVILLE, Ala. (WSFA) - Investigators believe a body found in south Alabama is a missing woman from Colorado.

In a Facebook post, Monroe County Sheriff Tom Boatwright said a body was found in a shooting house near the Monroe County and Wilcox County line. They believe the body is that of Cheryl Pence.

Our sister station, FOX10 News, reports that Pence was last seen on Dec. 31 and that investigators don’t suspect foul play at this time.

The Mobile station reports that family members say Pence and her son were seen by hunters as they were walking in the woods in Wilcox County as part of a “spiritual journey.” They got separated, and the son was found alive on Jan. 3 and taken to a hospital. He is now back home in Colorado.
