9th annual Camellia Bowl happening TODAY! Here’s what you need to know

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Buffalo Bulls will face each other in the ninth annual TaxAct Camelia Bowl at historic Cramton Bowl in Montgomery on Dec. 27.

This game, typically played on Christmas Day, will mark the first-ever meeting on the gridiron for the Eagles and the Bulls. Both teams previously made winning appearances in the post-season bowl game.

“We are extremely excited to bring two former Camellia Bowl champions back to Montgomery,” Johnny Williams, executive director said. “Buffalo and Georgia Southern provided some late-game heroics in their previous trip to Montgomery, and both team closed the regular season with exciting wins to earn the trip to the Camellia Bowl.”

Georgia Southern (6-6) is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, while Buffalo (6-6) is part of the Mid-American Conference.

The game has historically kept both teams close with seven of the first eight matchups being decided by eight points or fewer.
