MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) - Memorial Day Weekend 2023 has gotten off to a beautiful start. Fortunately that will continue for the remainder of the holiday weekend for all of central and south Alabama! The one thing that might surprise a few people over the mornings feeling a bit cool for end of May standards... we’ll drop into the upper 50s for overnight lows tonight, and fall to either side of 60° Monday night.

Temperatures will warm into the low and mid 80s Monday afternoon and rise into the mid to even upper 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday; that is it for the warming trend as most models have backed off on the heat for the end of the workweek thanks to increasing rain chances.

Right now we have lower 80s for Thursday and Friday, with middle 80s back for the weekend.

In terms of the humidity we’ve got more good news for you: dew points remain low through Tuesday, so you really won’t notice any sort of muggy feel to the air!

Beyond Tuesday the humidity does come up to more “typical” levels for this time of year. That, combined with an area of low pressure to our south, will lead to a chance of showers and thunderstorms for the second half of the workweek into the first half of the weekend.

Right now we are keeping coverage of rain to about 40% during this stretch. However, be aware that some models suggest much higher coverage than that. Once better agreement exists among the long-range forecast models we will be able to fine tune those rain chances!
